check this out!

This is passing around the internet right now - Does it work for you?

This year we'll experience 4 unusual dates.....1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11

Now try to figure this out!

Take the last two digits (numbers) of the year you were born,
add to that the age you will be this year,
and it will equal 111.

Try it!!

Berlin

The tall tower in behind the church is the TV tower built in 1969 by the East Germans. They were very proud of this building at that time. Even today it is one of the highest buildings in Berlin and very easy to see from anywhere in the city. Our hotel was beside the tower and it was very easy to find our way back! Just by looking for the tower for direction.

The original 1936 Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Built by Hitler's government and where the American Jesse Owens won 3 or 4 gold medals. Still the original building

sorry for the fuzzy photo!

A barrel of beer being changed in a beer hall in Munich. It seemed they were changing it every hour! The beer is poured into glasses without using gas so it is dripped into glasses. For a very nice tasting beer!

Berlin

This was taken in what was once a private home built in 1915 in West Berlin. It's now a 5 star hotel. The ceilings are so high!

2nd row from the left, Apple Strudel!!

This is the east side of the old border crossing between east and west Berlin

Berlin

Weather in Germany has been so warm compared with Morioka! We left Munich yesterday and we are now staying in Berlin.
The company we are visiting has put us up in the Estrel Hotel. Someone has said that it's the biggest hotel in Berlin! Nice place!
I have a few other photos but I can't download them onto the computer at the hotel.
The bald guy on the right is the company president and he sent me this photo to my mail address.
We are enjoying a steak dinner after meeting all day. Today will be more of the same! Nice people, the president is Kara and he's originally from Turkey and now he has a very success window making company, with his son (sitting beside him in the photo).
We'll be moving to a hotel in the downtown area tomorrow.

home

We returned home last night after spending a day and a night in Tokyo. For me going back to Vancouver is like going somewhere very familiar. I know all the streets, I don't need a map to find my way around and seeing the people that I know is always very special. This trip was especially important for my daughter, who has been to Vancouver twice before but this perhaps was her best trip so far because she is older this time.
I just realized that the photos I posted earlier on this blog do not appear! They have been posted somewhere else!? Not sure what happened?

Below are some photos of Tokyo taken yesterday from Tokyo Tower.

These are photos taken from my sister-in-law's office in downtown Vancouver.

Compared to Tokyo this photo looks like a small country town!
